It is now possible for the University to note a milestone credit on the transcript for students who have successfully completed a summer internship related to their home department with proper approval. The Department of Molecular Biology will consider requests for academic credit which will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis by the Director of Undergraduate Studies. The Department criteria is that the internship must be at least 8 weeks long, and related to molecular biology. The Summer Undergraduate Internship Milestone Credit application is accessible via TigerHub. At the end of the internship, students will submit a 1-2 page paper to the department as well as a letter from the company detailing responsibilities and overall performance. After this is approved, the Registrar’s Office will note the milestone credit on the transcript. [Please note that this credit does not count toward the 31 University required courses toward graduation.]The summer internship milestone credit program will be made available to sophomores who are in the process of declaring Molecular Biology as a major in the fall of their junior year, subject to the discretion of the Department using the criteria outlined above. Please note that the program will not be available to first year students.
