John Brooks, Assistant Professor of Molecular Biology, has been named an Hypothesis Fund Grantee for 2023. The Fund announcement recognizes his research toward better understanding the "impact of rhythmic antimicrobial protein production on the structure and function of the microbiome." The Hypothesis Fund, launched in May 2022, is in its second round of issuing generous grants to "...scientists to take intelligent risks. To defy the predominant expectations in their field. To go after their big ideas." The Fund is supported by charitable contributions, including from the foundation of Reid Hoffman, co-founder and executive chairman of LinkedIn; Gates Ventures; Lyda Hill Philanthropies; and the Psquared Charitable Foundation (Deven and Monika Parekh).
