Tom Silhavy and Betsy Hart

Molecular Biology graduate student Betsy Hart was awarded the Thomas J. Silhavy Award at the Department retreat on October 4. Betsy is, coincidentally, a student in the Silhavy lab. The Award is for the student who has shown outstanding dedication and service to the Graduate Program in Molecular Biology. Betsy is shown here with Professor Tom Silhavy. Sarah Port and Michael Estrella were presented with the Distinguished Postdoc Service Award. Katherine Hill won the Graduate Student Teaching Award, and Randi Guest won the postdoc teaching award.  Awards for the best talks at the retreat were given to Lei Wei and Bahar Javdan, and Rebecca Kim-Yip and Eliza Prangley won awards for the best posters.
