The Princeton Molecular Biology graduate program invites prospective students interested in graduate training in molecular and cellular biology to participate in the MolBio Scholars program. Scholars will participate in a fully funded visit to the Princeton campus to learn more about graduate admissions, meet Molecular Biology faculty, postdocs, and graduate students, and attend the departmental retreat. The Department of Molecular Biology is committed to increasing the participation of students with exceptional ability and promise. Students who will bring a diversity of viewpoints and cultures to the sciences, and who have demonstrated interest and passion for research in the broad field of Molecular and Cellular Biology, are invited to apply for and be appointed as a 2025 MolBio Scholar.Application Deadline is Summer 2025 (Exact date TBA) 2024 MolBio Scholars (l-r) Cheikh Mbow, Yeongseo Son, Geselle Sotelo Mendoza, Diana Turrieta, Jessica Lin, and Raheem Sheikh. Photo by Richard Thornton. Program OutlineScholars will arrive on October 2, 2025 and depart on October 5, 2025. Scholars will attend workshops on the process of applying to and interviewing for graduate school, resources available to our graduate students, as well as participate in the annual Department of Molecular Biology retreat. At the retreat, graduate students and postdocs from each lab in the department highlight their recent research. MolBio Scholars will also be given the opportunity to present a poster on their prior research, as well as to engage in informal and formal networking interactions with MolBio faculty and graduate students. It is a great way to preview Princeton and the department and gain insights into the process of applying to graduate school.EligibilityScholars will be selected from a competitive national applicant pool of junior and senior undergraduates. U.S. citizens or permanent residents currently enrolled in U.S. colleges or universities (including U.S. territories, Guam and Puerto Rico). Eligible applicants should hold an academic status of junior, senior or post-baccalaureate scholar by September 2025. We strongly encourage applications from Minority Serving Institutions such as Historically Black Colleges and Universities or Hispanic Serving Institution.Application RequirementsCV/ResumeTranscripts2 Letters of Recommendation. List two people who will write letters of recommendation in support of your application.Personal/Professional Statement MolBio Scholars Program FAQ Do I need to submit an official transcript with my application? For the online application it is acceptable to submit an unofficial transcript. Those individuals moving into the final stages of the selection process will be asked to submit an official copy. Do I need to pay out-of-pocket for my travel expenses? No. The MolBio Scholars staff will arrange to pay for your airfare or train transportation directly. You may need to pay for transportation to and from the airport, but you will be reimbursed for those expenses. What is the dress code for the visit? Dress is business casual/comfortable. Can I attend on a different day? No. This program is tied to our Departmental Retreat, so we are not able to offer alternative dates. Which airport is best for traveling to Princeton? Either Newark International Airport (EWR) or Philadelphia (PHL) is fine, with Newark slightly more convenient. Many NJ Transit trains on the Northeast Corridor line leave from Newark Airport and stop at Princeton Junction, where you can transfer to the "Dinky" Princeton line to get to campus.
