Access, Diversity & Inclusion at the Graduate School Our mission is to develop and support the most promising individuals from as many segments of society as possible. To that end, we aspire to sustain a truly inclusive community so that all students of every nationality, religion, gender, race/ethnicity, sexual orientation, ability, political viewpoint, socioeconomic status, and veteran status can flourish. Employee Resource Groups Nearly half of Princeton University employees engage in one or more of Princeton’s employee resource groups (ERGs). These volunteer, employee-led organizations are comprised of professionals from across the University who come together based on shared interests, experiences, and/or identities. ERGs work to create a more inclusive environment and sense of belonging within the University while also remaining engaged with external communities. Davis International Center The Davis International Center offers specialized support for international students and scholars at Princeton University. Our team of advisors can assist you with questions about your immigration status and your practical adjustment to the United States. Through our programs and events, you will have an opportunity to develop social connections and gather information that will help you as you settle into the U.S. culture. Carl A. Fields Center for Equality + Cultural Understanding At the Fields Center, diverse perspectives and experiences of race, class, gender and their intersections are supported and challenged, questioned and answered. These values are cultivated through the celebration of heritage months, dialogues and discussions, our Princeton University Mentoring Program (PUMP) and the Carl Fields Fellows peer educator program. Additionally, our Center’s student friendly space offers numerous opportunities for relaxation and engagement — comfy lounges, study breaks, movie nights, galas, festivals and more. Gender + Sexuality Resource Center The Gender + Sexuality Resource Center (GSRC) fosters a supportive and inclusive campus community for women, femme, trans, and queer Princetonians through collaborative programming, education, advocacy, and mentorship. Inclusive Princeton The Office of Institutional Equity and Diversity coordinates Princeton’s commitment to diversity, inclusion and fair treatment of all members of our community. We support undergraduate and graduate students, faculty members, postdoctoral fellows, staff and alumni, as well as outreach to the broader community. National Center for Faculty Development and Diversity The National Center for Faculty Development and Diversity (NCFDD) provides on-demand access to the mentoring, tools, and support needed to be successful in the Academy. We focus on four key areas that help achieve extraordinary writing and research productivity while maintaining a full and healthy life off campus: strategic planning, explosive productivity, healthy relationships, and work-life balance. Office of Disability Services Princeton University is committed to ensuring equal access to its curricular and co-curricular opportunities for students with disabilities. Offering a range of services, The Office of Disability Services facilitates reasonable accommodations to support our students with disabilities. The Office of Disability Services also serves as a resource to the many University administrative units and academic departments that have responsibility for or obligations to accommodate faculty, staff and campus visitors with disabilities. Office of Religious Life The Office of Religious Life is the Spiritual Center of Princeton University. When challenging or traumatic events happen -- around the world, on campus, or in our lives – the staff chaplains in the Office of Religious Life are here for members of the Princeton University community. Our daily work is to accompany people in their grief, suffering, and lament. We are confidential counselors. We work with individuals, offices, and groups. We are very happy to be present to you also in times of joy, of course! Pregnancy & Childbirth Princeton University is committed to providing access to all individuals who are experiencing pregnancy, childbirth, lactation and/or related conditions, under the terms of Title IX of the Education Amendments Act of 1972, Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the Family and Medical Leave Act of 1993, the New Jersey Law Against Discrimination, the Providing Urgent Maternal Protections for Nursing Mothers Act, and the Pregnant Workers Fairness Act, which prohibit discrimination on the basis of pregnancy and/or childbirth. Student Affinity Groups The Graduate School supports the development and facilitation of both academic and social community building events for students though graduate student organizations. The Access, Diversity and Inclusion team provides funding for a number of events and activities that are designed to bridge various affinity interests and communities. Tigers with Cubs We are a group of Princeton University graduate students and postdocs with or expecting children. Together we make new friends, trade/sell kids stuff, and help each other out or discuss parenting issues at Princeton. Women in STEM The Women in STEM Leadership Council is comprised of the leaders of various department women in STEM groups on campus and is convened by the Graduate School Diversity and Inclusion team. At present, we have members from the following departments: Physics, Molecular Biology, Geosciences, Ecology and Evolutionary Biology, Electrical Engineering, Psychology, and Math.
