Student Life

Princeton University not only has a beautiful campus but is also part of a vibrant community with opportunities to enjoy the arts, sports, and excellent food. There are numerous options within walking distance of the university, but it is also easy to access destinations such as New York City and Philadelphia.


General Information

The Graduate Student’s Guide to the Universe is an excellent publication that includes information about extracurricular activities, campus organizations, and off-campus food and drink.


Housing

The University offers a variety of affordable on-campus housing options for graduate students. The Graduate Housing Department provides information about both on- and off-campus housing options.


Recreation

The Office of Graduate Student Life provides information about upcoming campus events and student organizations. There are many opportunities to explore the arts at Princeton, ranging from joining groups on campus to enjoying a variety of performances. For students interested in sports, Campus Recreation includes information on participation through intramural activities, sport clubs, instructional classes, fitness and wellness programs, and informal recreation. Additionally, Princeton’s Outdoor Action organization offers a range of outdoor activities for students during the academic year. For those who enjoy watching sports, most athletic events at Princeton are free (or require a nominal admission fee) and there are a variety of professional sports teams nearby.


Getting Around

New Jersey Transit provides train service to nearby New York City and Philadelphia (following a connection to SEPTA). Princeton Station is located on campus and connects to the Northeast Corridor Line. Additionally, the 605 and 606 bus lines have stops at Princeton University and provide access to locations beyond downtown Princeton. For more information, visit Getting Around Campus.
