Jaffe Wins AHA Fellowship
Kim Jaffe, a postdoctoral fellow in Rebecca Burdine's lab was awarded a two year American Heart Association fellowship. She will use zebrafish as her model organism to study vertebrate development. Her research focuses on left-right patterning mutants and their roles in proper heart development. She will also be examining the downstream effects of early left-right patterning on subsequent gut development. This research will benefit our understanding of how left-right patterning defects in humans leads to congenital heart disease and other organ abnormalities.
