Dr. Hanqiu Zheng, a postdoctoral fellow in Kang lab, was awarded a Susan Komen postdoctoral fellowship. This three-year fellowship will support his research proposal to understand the role of a classical developmental signaling pathway Jag1-Notch signaling in the context of breast cancer bone metastasis. He will also evaluate the potential of using gamma-secretase inhibitor provided by Merck and functional blocking antibodies to block Jag1-Notch signaling in order to inhibit breast cancer bone metastasis. Promising results from this study will support further clinical trials to evaluate the potential of these reagents in the treatment of bone metastasis.
