Coleen Murphy, an Assistant Professor of Molecular Biology and member of the Lewis-Sigler Institute for Integrative Genomics is one of five recipients of a 2008 Keck Young Scholars in Medical Research Awards. The W. M. Keck Foundation instituted the Distinguished Young Scholars Program in 1998 to support the nation's most promising young scientists involved in cutting-edge biomedical research addressing the fundamental mechanisms of human disease. Dr. Murphy's grant of up to one million dollars over the next five years will support her research study to identify the genes critical for the maintenance of higher neuronal activities, in particular learning and memory, during aging.
