Tom Shenk Receives Stanford Lifetime Achievement Award
Congratulations to Thomas E. Shenk, Elkins Professor of Molecular Biology, for being one of two recipients of the Arthur Kornberg and Paul Berg Lifetime Achievement Award in Biomedical Sciences. This is the first year for the award, established in 2010 to acknowledge and celebrate the lifetime career achievements of Stanford University School of Medicine alumni in biomedical sciences. The award is named for two former Stanford professors, each a Nobel Prize winner for DNA research. The Award recognizes Shenk as a world-renowned expert in virology and gene therapy and notes his extensive work with adenovirus, over 225 scientific papers, and authoring multiple patents in the area of transcriptional analysis, regulation, molecular oncology, and virology. The Award ceremony will take place in late May at Stanford.
