MOL 516 Genetics of Eukaryotic Organisms

From the major model organisms (yeast, Drosophila, C. Elegans., mouse and zebrafish) to humans. Disscusion and readings from the primary literature will foucs on basic cell, developmental, and quantitative biology. Material will emphasize genetic approaches building from classical methods to modern molecular gentetics and genomics. Topics will include suppression, synthetic lethality, epistasis, mutagenesis, mosaics, transgenics, ES cells, knock-in technologies and cell-type specific gene expression.
