Shipra Vaishnava

Dr. Shipra Vaishnava received her bachelor's degree in Botany from Delhi University and her Master's degree in Biotechnology from Maharaja Sayajirao University in India.  She then earned her Ph.D. from the University of Georgia, Athens for thesis work on cell biology of Apicomplexan parasites in Dr. Boris Striepen's lab. She then joined Dr. Lora Hooper's lab at University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center for post-doctoral training where her research has focused on understanding how gut epithelial surfaces manage the threat of microbial invasion by the vast communities of bacteria that colonize the intestine.
