Jesse Zalatan (UCSF)

Dr. Jesse Zalatan graduated from Stanford University with a Ph.D. in Chemistry in 2008. In his graduate research with Daniel Herschlag, he studied how enzymes catalyze phosphoryl-transfer reactions using comparisons of reactivity trends across evolutionarily-related enzyme families. In his post-doctoral research with Wendell Lim at UCSF, he demonstrated how a scaffold protein in the yeast MAP kinase network is regulated to dictate the choice between two possible signaling outputs. His current research is focused on how scaffold proteins physically organize signaling pathways to coordinate and integrate signals, and how these principles can be used to engineer and rewire cellular behavior.
